Morgan Eva GT - The Brits are back
This is the new Morgan Eva GT. It is a four-seat, luxury GT sportscar and as you can quite clearly see, it is cool.
It is also like no Morgan before it. Far from being made out of wood, iron or the bones of peasants, the Eva GT is instead a podium for advanced materials and motorsports know-how. The body panels are made from aluminium, the chassis (aluminium) was honed in the GT3 motorsport class, and the engine is of award-winning stock, courtesy of BMW.
A twin-turbo 3-litre straight six pumping through the rear wheels via a manual six-speeder or an auto, helps propel the Eva GT from 0-100km in an estimated 4.5 seconds.
Pedestrian Detection - Technology
The All new Volvo S60 boasts Pedestrian Detection Technology that will bring the car to a complete stop at speeds under 40km/per hour.
Finally, technology that has real ''meaning'' in South Africa.

A Note From the Editor
There has been such a volume of letters, gym conversation and by way of passing from guys recently that It seems everyone under the age of 18 would sell parts of their bodies to have my job.
Two things. While I do spend a lot of time driving the kind of cars you and your friends only dream about, I spend even more of it explaining to people how it is that I made it look so much better than the flavorless opposition I seem to have attracted from within the industry .It's not all sunny days, believe me.
Secondly, It doesn't matter if you have nine illegitimate children or sleep with your sister, but you must be able to spell. Sadly, most people who write to us can't. Without wanting to be racist, a grasp of the local dialect comes in handy, too. I know they let you learn all sorts of exotic languages these days, but english is the universal tongue, accept it as such and you'll find life is much easier when searching for ANY job.
When you finally extricate yourself from education, your best bet is to try for a job on a local newspaper. The time you spend on a local rag will give you a grasp of wedding fashion, pony clubs, vegetable contests and - most important of all - the ability to tell a story.
Those who float, like cream, to the top of this profession are wordsmiths - people who can turn their hands as easily to a Lamborghini as to a parish council meeting. A well known Editor, for instance, drives a BMW he's had for more than 11 years. In the editorial game for more than 10 years, and still knows less about cars than Jocob Zuma knows about public speaking. But the man can write. It doesn't matter if you can tell a Lantra from a Corolla,or if you can reel off every Ferrari's 0-60 time from memory. If you can't write, you can't come in.

BMW Vision Connected drive Concept
BMW’s big news is this
Intended to showcase the ‘intelligent networking of driver, vehicle and the outside world into the future’, BMW claims it sets new standards in comfort, infotainment and safety.
The focus is on innovative technology. The interior is divided into what BMW are terming ‘layers’, that are intended to break up large expanses of interior, creating more space for ventilation and controls.
Fin-shaped antennas replace conventional wing mirrors, and pick up navigation, traffic information and mobile internet. Inside, different areas of the car are defined by coloured fibre optic strands, which light up when a function is activated.
A leap in the right direction or has the German powerhouse leaft us all a bit bewildered?

New Mercedes C63 AMG Revealed ..
One look at the pictures will tell you it’s not an all-new model, and the 6.2-litre V8 engine remains under the front bonnet, AMG’s trick new 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 shunned and the C63 happily remaining naturally aspirated.
The C63 does get a new gearbox, though, the twin-clutch seven-speed MCT from the Mercedes SLS AMG supercar providing snappy 100 millisecond gearshifts and a Race Start function as well as lower emissions and improved fuel economy. The saloon manages the 0-100km sprint in 4.5sec.

Spy Snaps - Alfa Romeo 4C GTA
Like the Porsche Boxster, it will be rear-wheel drive and mid-engined, its structure a development of the hardcore KTM X-Bow. A carbonfibre and aluminium construction could give the 4C GTA a kerb weight as low as 850kg, and with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Cloverleaf’s 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the middle, its performance would rival more powerful (but heavier) rivals from BMW, Nissan, Audi and Porsche.
City Slicker
Turbo At Large:
The Honda CR-V's list of merits is a long one. At first glance the overall impression is elegant and sophisticated, shall we say crossover with purpose. The grille and bonnet have been given sharper lines and the front and rear bumpers have been reshaped. The interior is comfortable and boasts high-quality materials. Additions include an eight –way powered drivers seat, leather upholstery, Bluetooth, heated front seats and electric sunroof. Honda claims to have upped their game on plastic and vinyl finishes and from the look of the metallic outline on the dash and soft black trim, I’ll believe them. My personal new favorite feature is the USB connection which worked beautifully with my Ipod.
Powering the Honda CR-V is a highly advanced 2.2i D-TEC engine the benefits of which are really felt when flying past yet another petrol station with a half a tank still showing and a feeling a mighty surge of torque when you circle the roundabout and shoot down the motorway on-ramp.
The ride is comfortable and quiet, its handling is nimble. So many of it’s rivals pitch and lurch along, generating what chassis engineers describe as ‘head toss’’ The CR-V is different thanks to Honda’s Vehicle Stability Assist ( VSA ) system.
Like every "soft-roader," the CR-V wasn't really intended for terrain more rugged than gravel road, but its ample ground clearance and available all-wheel drive does give peace of mind for even the most daring city slicker. That said, the CR-V is widely praised and remains one of the most complete compact SUVs around.
Finesse Becomes Fast ..
Lexus ISF
Turbo At Large:
Is the ISF a ‘real’ Performance Sedan? It certainly takes the company into new territory, being the first and most powerful version of the L insignia’s in-house designed, hand-built V8 . Thanks to Yamaha engine tweaks. The all-things-to-all-people brief looks a stretch, yet so far I’ve been impressed. Slightly surprised too, if I’m honest, it’s because I’ve doubted that the ISF could be a brutal, tar trampling performance car yet also unmistakably a Lexus sedan.
German rivals BMW, Mercedes and Audi roll out punishing V8-engined, sedans. Moreover, they all have bloodlines reaching back into the misty past – a heritage of horsepower – while for Lexus, life has consisted of a performance image flatter than Karoo road kill. The closest Lexus comes to performance is that the vehicles have two engines, one of which is electric ( that’s electric as in light bulb ) and then of course, at a push how green some of their models are - but then this is not a Greenpeace discussion either.
Now, fast forward a couple of years and tell me, can you really be blasé about a four-door sports car boasting 311kw? You can, but not for long, especially when it’s regarded as Lexus Chief engineer’s fifth symphony.
The IS-F’s styling makes as big a statement as its performance, with a clean roofline, accentuated by a confident, curvy flanks, the Lexus disguises its origins, and therefore its bulk, well. That is until you see the IS-F amongst normal traffic, at which point its epic scale becomes obvious.
The result of years of research is a luxury vehicle that can hit 100km in just over 4.5sec and run into the 200km per hour plus range with absurd ease. It’s a vocal engine. Customers accustomed to the gruntfest may find the new engine lacks thumping torque, but it remains a potent device. Lexus doesn’t quote an unrestricted top speed, but there’s little doubt it would touch 300km per hour.
Beneath the sharply executed skin lies the now- familiar high-tech combination of the Lexus Powershift eight speed automatic transmission, switchable sports suspension and vast 390mm front brakes, which gives greater pad area with better management of heat.
In keeping with the IS-F’s unlikely role of sexy cruiser and bruising high-performance vehicle, you can switch from ‘Comfort’ to ‘Sport’ and ‘Manual’ modes, which reduce the shift speed accordingly.
With four decent seats, there’s space to carry family or friends (although not perhaps as much rear leg room as you’d expect), while Toyota’s influence on the dynamics makes it an entertaining steer when you’re driving solo. If that ticks your boxes, the Lexus IS-F is a compelling proposition.

Spy Snaps - New Toyota FT-66 - joint venture with Subaru
Last week saw the unveil of Toyota’s FT-86 concept, a preview of the Toyota/Subaru joint-venture coupe that’s just around the corner.
The concept itself is very promising, not looking too far off production reality while also offering up pretty striking looks, inside and out..
When it hits the roads, it’s set to mate a Subaru Impreza-sourced 2-litre flat-four boxer engine to a rear-wheel drive chassis, modified from the all-wheel-drive Subaru Legacy. That should mean performance that closely rivals its Volkswagen Scirocco foe – 0-100km in 7.2sec – as the pair share near identical dimensions.
The Japanese car should trump the VW with its rear-drive dynamics, though, and be more of a drivers’ car. pity about the looks.

Spy Snaps - New Nissan Qazana set for production
Initially a concept car and designed by the team at Nissan Design Europe in London around the notion of a city car bringing together a modern-day beach buggy and a four-seat motorbike, the Qazana Crossover aims at rivalling the 1960’s spirit of vans, bikes and buggies. A source I trust has informed me that the car is in fact set to go into production.
Think of a two-door coupe but with a second pair of doors. All doors open electronically, the rear dependent on the front doors. The dashboard features both, touch-screen navigation and controls display, and the centre for Nissan's next-generation advanced fully electronic ALL MODE four-wheel drive.
Spy Snaps - New BMW 6 Series
As you guys already know BMW is in the process of launching the new 6 series in SA. we manged to snag some pics of the vehicle. BIG surprise to us at Automoblog is that the new 6-series cabrio will come with a traditional canvas top rather than one of those retractable hard-tops that are so popular nowadays. This might have technical as well as design reasons:
We assume the fake rear window is to hide the fins of the canvas-top first seen on the current model and apparently given to the new model again. Besides these fins, we can reveal the overall shape of the new 6-series won’t differ much from the outgoing model, though refinement will be done to every panel

New Lamborghini
Lamborghini has announced a new special edition of the Gallardo. Just like the new Porsche 911 ‘Black Edition’, nothing has changed mechanically, but its does get new paint and wheels. You don’t have to be fluent in Italian to realise that the outside of the Gallardo Bicolore has two colours. The roof and roof pillars on all the cars will be painted Noctis Black while on the lower sections you can choose between Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Bianco Monocerus and Blu Caelum (yellow, orange, grey, white and blue).

This is How I Roll!..
I couldn’t have chosen better wheels to enjoy the journey from Cape Point to Cape Town —especially considering the empty stretch of about 29km of freeway between my starting point and final destination. The vibration of the engine worked its way up my spine, like Morse code tapping out a message: I need to be floored!
It’s quite invigorating prowling up behind a BMW 3 series or an Audi S series in the Volvo C30 T5 that’s primary focus for the last few years has been its obsession with safety. The acceleration from 0-100 in six seconds is pure exhilaration. The engine’s primal sound is awesome. A bit of a let down where interior trim comes into play, especially given the plush, padded nature of the cabin’s front half.
Other dilemmas are the slow forward motion of the front seats on their electric motors when people want to get in the back, the small glovebox and the cheap, monochrome LCD characters in the information display. That said, the ‘floating’ centre console does look good, though.
Even with its 10 per cent faster steering response time, at high speeds one is inclined to hold onto the multi functional steering wheel with both hands. It’s a bit like riding a mechanical bull. Idling at a robot, you simply can’t wait to hear the “oohs” and “aahhs” from pedestrians in shock following a short four-wheel spin and devilish speed to the next intersection.
This chariot of fire with its 18’’ alloys, sexy curves and sports suspension cocooning a more-than-modest 2.5l turbo-charged engine offers complete new meaning to the term “in the knick of time”.
The renewal of the C30 has been more comprehensive than is usually the case with Volvo's models. The entire front has been redesigned which gives the car a radical new appearance from the front, carving out a distinctive personality. This, coupled with the angled lines of the front bumper and the new headlamps, reinforces the impression of speed and sportiness.
The C30—boasting a roaring output of 169kw—is set to replace all vehicles in its class as the trendiest hatch in town.
Since Volvo’s birth in 1927, quality craftsmanship has been the name of the game and that’s the beauty of the C30 T5. It doesn’t look out of place in any situation, whether you are wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a suit and tie. It has charisma, stance and energy. And no matter what kind of music you enjoy—hip hop, Gregorian chants or the karaoke version of umshini wam—the high-performance sound system will play it flawlessly.
Volvo is Latin for “I roll” and I believe this Swedish car manufacturer will continue to excel at luxury and performance, and that it will be a popular choice for how many individuals choose ‘to roll’.
